Current insurance cost increase of $120 per month

Our insurance is a high deductible HSA, with 100% coverage after the deductible is reached. We chose a plan that met our needs and, although expensive, gave us peace of mind and a good safety net. Obamacare forced our insurance provider to include a host of services and coverage we do not want, need, and […]

48% increase in premium after Obamacare

Got some bad news today. We received correspondence from our company’s health insurance broker explaining what we are facing with the ACA after January 1, 2014. This will be a hard pill to swallow: “…your current risk factor rating with [Insurance Company] is .80, on a scale of .75 to 1.25. When January 1st rolls […]

My doctor retires early rather than practice under Obamacare

I have a non malignant tumor in my brain cage, on the pituatary. My primary physician referred me to an accomplished and skilled MD specializing in endocrinology, who has helped me to shrink the tumor with meds and some alterations in the contents of my diet. I have visited him twice annually for the last […]

Employee healthcare cost up 73%

Just got my 2014 healthcare package details this week. It includes a 73% increase in premium contribution, $600 deductible increase, and $2,000 increase in out of pocket maximum. My current plan option was discontinued so I could not “keep my plan” even though I was completely satisfied with it. Now I am hoping my current […]

My insurance increased to an unfordable level

I was laid off from a government contractor in 2011 and have had to purchase my own health insurance since then. I am currently not working. Not only did the cost for my current insurance carriers sky rocket, I was hit with the increase 4 months early; starting in January, rather than April. I cannot […]

30% tax on employer sponsored healthcare, so it was dropped

In 2013 when my spouse’s employer was going to enroll in a new two-year health coverage plan, he was informed that OBAMACARE charges private employers a 30% penalty tax if they offer health coverage such as Medica or Healthpartners, etc. We were so happy before with this coverage…but with this new tax, his employer could […]

A Duluth Minnesota based private foundation health plan called HealthShare was setup to provide coverage for self-employed and small business served 200-300 area families ( 800+people total I think) was recently told its plan did not meet Obamacare requirements and consequently decided to close its doors. Our monthly combined cost to employer/employee was only $130.
