Changed jobs to avoid un-insured tax penalty

Ironically I work as a registered nurse but I don’t have health insurance. The company I worked for required a minimum of 80 hours in 30 days to be eligible for health insurance. In the two years I’ve worked for them, I’ve had one month where I worked enough hours to be eligible.
Now with Obamacare (i.e. the affordable care act) I face a tax penalty in 2014 if I don’t have health insurance. I chose to take a lower paying job with guaranteed hours this month so I can generate the income to pay health insurance premiums. If I hadn’t taken the steady job, I would have to disclose confidential financial information to apply for the state program.
