I am employed by small company of 15 people including owners. Been employed there for 25 years. We had an ultra-premium health insurance plan. It is what the owners wanted. Health Insurance Company contacts one owner October 3, 2013 and said our company health insurance plan will not be renewed when it expires February 2014. (The agent said, off the record, ObamaCare is causing health insurance companies to drop small companies like us. Health insurance companies are offering plans much worse than offered on the government exchange to get rid of small companies like us.) The health insurance company then said they will renew the current plan for a substantial increase in premium IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL YEARLY INCREASE in premium. If our owner takes this offer this plan will never-ever be renewed after this expires February 2015. The health insurance company gave the owner 24 HOURS to take this deal or it will expire. Our owner had to cancel all sales plans for the day to spend the day to research if any other options would be better than this offer before it expires in 24 hours. After hours of phone calls and research our owner concluded this extension of current plan was the only safe choice.
ObamaCare caused this disruption in our insurance but the agent and insurance company is too frightened to come out and say it. You can’t blame them for being frightened! Not their fault. Obama said we can keep our current plan. Not true. We are all going to be herded like cattle into exchanges that will eventually morph into government only health care. This is frightening!!
