Pre-existing condition, lower rates

My cousin, Dan, who was without insurance since he suffered a brain aneurism a number of years ago, lost his job because of the effects of surgery now needs cataract surgery. He came to me in tears saying he couldn’t get insurance because of a pre-existing condition. I advised him that the condition could not preclude him from getting insurance so he is now able to secure coverage at a realistic rate.

Also my wife who is retired but yet not old enough for medicare was paying $720 per month to stay on a plan with her former employer. With the AHA (Obamacare) she is now able to get coverage through MNSure for about half that amount.

My fried, Mark, reached a severance agreement with his former employer (a school district) that would give him about $6500/year until he reaches medicare age. Now, through MNSure, he will be able to use the money to purchase private insurance for much less money and have the remainder to use as he chooses.

So there are stories on both sides. I would be interested in hearing or seeing the Tea Party Plan for improving what is the most expensive and least effective medical/insurance plan in the free world. Canadiens are quoted as saying that their national health insurance plan “isn’t perfect, but it’s much better than yours.” See the Time magazine article published last winter.

I doubt that you will have the courage to publish this document.
