I moved to WI in 2001, and discovered what a bunch of great regulations protected me when I bought health care in MN. In WI, insurance companies could pick and choose what they wanted to cover. Pregnancy – nope. Let’s penalize people for being female. They refused to cover treatment or meds for allergies, asthma, […]
BCBS plan monthly premium $1150 to $2015 monthly 2017
my husband and I retired in 2016. We are not medicare age yet and knew we would be paying for health insurance, but had no idea our premiums for 2017 would be as outrageous as they are. The lowest cost plan available to us will exceed 18% of our income. The plan available has a […]
coverage does not mean care
I have had health coverage through my husband’s workplace for 29 years (it’s no coincidence that I’ve been married for 29 years). Two weeks ago I got a notice from my husband’s employer that all spouses that are eligible for coverage through their own employer will be dropped from coverage. Let me tell you that […]
Retired at 67 but wife needed insurance
I am 67 years old and recently retired after 48 years with the same company. My wife is 58 years old. While I was working my employer sponsored health insurance for me and my wife was $277 per month or $3324 annually. My annual income before I retired was $103,000 and my wife did not […]
Widow with job with no benefits
I am a widow with an 19 yr old and a 16 year old. The 19 year old is in secondary school and does not work in town, we have livestock and he helps on my farm. I was told can only apply for his own plan if he is either married or in the […]
Doctors in public/municipal hospitals.
There’s a lack of better doctors in publicc/municipal hospitals and of those they have, are of Middle-Eastern(Arabs), Asians(Indian/Bangladesh/Pakistan) and African(Africa) stock. Most of these kinds are less than ideal and have language barriers. Public/Municipal hospitals cite diversity as the reason they recruit these kinds, and while some people have no problems with these clinicians, not […]
Choices? There are no choices!
I am self-employed and consequently have been self-insured for years. Even though I’m far from wealthy I have always been responsible and never not been covered. I could always find an inexpensive policy to meet my needs be it short term, hospitalization only, or with a high deductible. I got my current policy just before […]
Cost and deductibles almost tripled.
My insurance premium costs almost tripled as well as the deductible almost tripled. My choices in plans came down to about 3 due to the fact that either one or none of my doctors were on any of the other plans. I did not want to have to change one or any of my doctors […]
I’m one of the 6% that Obama sold to the insurance co.
I finally enrolled in Obama Care for 2 reasons: 1. Needed health insurance to receive medical assistance. 2. Fear of penalties for not having health insurance. Because I am considered to be in the low income class, I received a fair amount of tax credits & was able to pick a reasonable insurance @ a […]
I’m 59 yrs old, self employed , and cannot save for retirement because of Obamacare.
My healthcare premium just skyrocketed for no apparent reason. Somebody tell me why a healthy person who has never smoked or had any heart or issues with cancer or any other diseases should have the government or the health insurance companies they are in bed with, say my monthly premium should be $855., –of which, […]
Lifesaving Epipen Unaffordable
My daughter and I both need epipens — the lifesaving medication used to prevent death from anaphylaxis due to severe allergies. This year our employer offered only high deductible plans. High or higher were the options. Premiums increased. Deductible skyrocketed. Plus we have to contribute several hundred dollars every pay period to the HSA account […]
Plan cancelled, premiums for new plan higher.
My family and I are mostly healthy. We had a catestrophic-only plan that allowed us to contribute to an HSA in order to pay for routine healthcare, but any truly severe illness would be covered by our catestrophic plan. This plan cost us about $350 per month. After obamacare, that plan was declared illegal and […]
67% rate increase 2015 to 2016 Plus Ded from $4 k to $13.5K
Amazing, I just received my 2016 Health insurance quote. 2015 $1,300 Month with $4 k deductible (Hard, Burt doable) 2016 increase of $868 per MOnth to $2,168 and Deductible increase to $13,500 (cannot do it!). This is crazy. They are forcing me not to work. ACA eliminated competition and escalated rates.
My huband is retiring only choice of insurance Obama Care
My husband is retiring at the end of the year. When we went to an insurance agent to get medical insurance we were told we have two choice’s either Cobra for 18 months or Obamacare. My husband’s employer will carry our heath insurance until he has retired. We were given plans from Obamacare with deductibles […]
OBAMACARE IS A CRONY CRIME
I am a physician and I was disturbed profoundly by the crony nature of the system before Obamacare. When Obamacare mandated this cronyism–making it law–I had no choice but to quit providing health care within that system. But as a pediatric subspecialist, it is difficult to financially compete with subsidized crony health care programs. So […]
Pushed into Badger Care; The State Wants All Our Info
I was unmarried when my wife and I conceived. In some states, it would have been easier if we were “domestic partners.” We tried to sign up for the Health Exchange for each of us separately. Needless to say, the plan I used to get for $120/month now costs over $300. I’ll pay less with […]
I can’t afford it
I am a truck driver and this past December I had to quit working due to my own health problems. I was driving for an owner operator so I didn’t have insurance in the first place. The first thing I thought I would do was to try and get on the county healthcare, but that […]
Had to go back to work to get my wife Heathcare Coverage!
I am 73 years old, on Medicare and SS. My wife is 62 years old, Real Estate agent. The RE market is bad, cannot afford to sign up for Healthcare. I was forced to go back to work with a company that has benefits. The point I’m trying to make is that to get my […]
I lost my job and coverage and the plan we have to buy is exorbitant!
This is from the letter I sent to my congressional representative: Subject: Repeal of ObamaCare Dear Congressman Brooks, Health care insurance is something that, thankfully, my family and I have not historically had to worry too much about. Our health care has normally been provided by or heavily subsidized by my employer. However, due essentially […]
The story of those without a voice
After quitting my job to raise my children, I applied to several health insurance companies. All but one denied us, due to pre existing conditions. Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield was the only insurance company to cover four healthy individuals. Our premium was over $1000, and increase more the next year. In 2014, we receive […]
