Choices? There are no choices!

I am self-employed and consequently have been self-insured for years. Even though I’m far from wealthy I have always been responsible and never not been covered. I could always find an inexpensive policy to meet my needs be it short term, hospitalization only, or with a high deductible. I got my current policy just before all this Obamacare nonsense started. It’s designed for a HSA with a $5000 deductible and a fairly low monthly premium. It was perfect for me as I am healthy, could stand the deductible with savings and would be covered in case of disaster or a chronic illness. When Obamacare hit I got a letter saying my policy would be discontinued, but I still have it as Illinois became one of the states that permitted “if you like your policy you can keep your policy” after the uproar. I’d like to keep it as long as I can because there is no copay and it pays everything after the deductible, but it is becoming cost prohibitive. The premium is now double from a couple of years ago. It’s been a stretch to pay at double and now I’ve been notified that it will soon triple. If I continue the policy a big chunk of my income will be be for health insurance and not put into the economy elsewhere. If I don’t continue it I will have to look elsewhere and what I found at the exchange is simply appalling. Choices? There are no choices anymore. They are all variations of the same and more expensive with less value than what I have now. As I said I could always find a policy that worked for me, but that freedom has been taken from me.
